DERMAL FILLERS IN NORTH LONDON
Dermal fillers can give back the fullness lost naturally with age, producing a ‘plumping’ effect. It is good for softening deep lines, folds and scarring (particularly of the lower face) and for reshaping lips, putting back the ‘architecture’ that was there years before.
WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS MADE FROM?
Fillers can either be based on synthetic substances or natural substances, for example hyaluronic acid, which is found in your own skin. At Chase Dental Care we only use dermal fillers which have been the subject of extensive clinical trials. They are all fully reversible. The three main brands we use are Restylane®, Juvéderm® and Perfecta®. These are all hyaluronic acid based fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the spaces between the cells of body tissues in all animals. It has already been used widely in general medicine to help eye surgeons perform cataract operations, and for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement. It is estimated that 30 million patients around the world have been treated with some form of hyaluronic acid. It hydrates and plumps up the skin.
WHAT AREAS DO YOU TREAT?
We treat the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds and wrinkles of the lower face.
HOW IS THE PROCEDURE PERFORMED?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. The gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance. Our policy is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look.
As most dermal fillers include an added anaesthetic, the treatment is virtually painless. In addition, topical anaesthetics are used to minimise discomfort.
The length of the treatment will depend on the areas being filled, but generally the procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Dermal fillers work instantly so you’ll see the results straight away.
The effects will fade gradually but should last between 4 and 13 months depending on the treatment, at which point you can come back to us for a top up treatment. If you decide not to continue with the injections, the gel will biodegrade in the skin and simply disappear.
