Infection control at Chase Dental Care

INFECTION CONTROL AT CHASE DENTAL CARE

Your safety is our primary importance.

In modern dental care you can be assured that all precautions are being taken to protect you. Rest assured that your visits to the dentist are safe.

Protecting you from infection is a priority to us, so we want you to understand the many ways we ensure your safety.

UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS

Since there are many different diseases that are contagious (can be transmitted from one person to another), we assume that every encounter has the potential for infection. For that reason, we follow guidelines known as universal precautions.

Universal precaution means that we treat all patients as though they may themselves be a source of cross-infection. This allows us to eliminate the possibility of passing a disease from one patient to another. Precautions are also taken to reduce the potential of transmitting infection from a dental worker to a patient and visa-versa.

WHAT STEPS ARE TAKEN TO CONTROL INFECTION?

We pay particular attention to general cleanliness, disinfection and sterilisation. We follow the Government guidelines, HTM 01-05(2013) closely for your protection.

Surface Disinfection

All surfaces that might possibly come into contact with infection-carrying materials are disinfected with approved chemicals between each patient.

Cleaning and sterilisation of Instruments

Any instruments that are not disposable are cleaned thoroughly.

An Autoclave is used to sterilise and conforms to the current strict guidelines. A regular annual maintenance and check ensures that our standards are maintained.

Servicing Equipment

We service all equipment daily, weekly and annually to ensure safety to all our patients.

For more information on our Infection Control Policy please refer to our patient information book at reception.
